Old Bird apologizes for his rudeness, before Samus with Pyonchi in arms asks if he really has to leave. Some time passes and father and daughter see the chozo off, Rodney regretfully informing the birds that he can't just give the Afloraltite to them without knowing what it's meant for.

Little Samus racks her brain until it hits her, Pyonchi! The pair laugh, a blossoming friendship between a little human girl and old bird man thing on full display. With that option eliminated the two are left to think of a way to get to the squirrel, Old Bird suggesting that they make friends with him and to start by naming him. Over in the forest, Samus asks Old Bird if he can't fly, to which he admits that the Chozo lost their wings long ago. Gray Voice and Chief Aran are annoyed by this development. Samus quick to make friends with the alien requests him to help her catch the squirrel, to which Old Bird agrees, putting his associate Gray Voice in charge of negotiations. The bird comforts the girl, introducing himself as Old Bird, and assuring her that they're not so different. His hood falls revealing an old bird like man, to Samus' shock.
And here comes Samus, bumping into one of the robed figures in her haste. Chief Rodney Aran arrives on the scene, confused that the Chozo would want so much of the mineral. Two robed figures talk with one of Rodney's men, requesting to borrow a large amount of Afloraltite. Before Samus can retrieve her stuff from the thieving rodent, two other kids come over to tell her about a strange ship that just arrived on planet, something they call a 'Chozo ship'. We see little three year old Samus in a forest attempting to get her purse back from an squirrel like alien, and failing.
